At the
conclusion of Pastor Breckenridge's' sermon, an invitation
is extended for those who feel led to come forward
and make a public decision for Jesus Christ. One of
those decisions might be to become a member of the
church. The Powers Memorial Baptist Church of
Hopewell receives new members in one of the
following ways:
(1)
By one's profession of faith in Jesus Christ,
followed by Believer's Baptism. Southern Baptists
practice baptism by immersion. Believers from church
groups which practice other modes of baptism (i.e.,
sprinkling, pouring, etc.) must be baptized by
immersion to become a member of Powers Memorial
Baptist Church.
(2) By a letter from another Southern Baptist
church. When a member of another Southern Baptist
church comes forward and requests membership at
Powers Memorial Baptist Church, a card is mailed by
our church office to the member's most recent church
notifying them of the person's change in church
membership.
(3) By statement. When no record of prior
church membership is
available,
a believer who states that they have already been
baptized by immersion is accepted as a member of
Powers Memorial Baptist Church on statement.
Sometimes churches cease operation or church
membership records are lost or destroyed.
If
you feel God leading you to become a part of the
Powers Memorial Family, we'd love to have you. If
you have questions, please don't hesitate to
call or e-mail
Pastor Breckenridge.
He'll gladly schedule either an office or home
appointment.
